PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Project management is a carefully planned and organized effort to accomplish a successful project. A project is a one-time effort that produces a specific result, for example, a building or a major new computer system. This is in contrast to a program, which is 1) an ongoing process, such as a quality control program, or 2) an activity to manage a series of multiple projects together.

Project management includes developing a project plan, which includes defining and confirming the project goals and objectives, identifying tasks and how goals will be achieved, quantifying the resources needed, and determining budgets and timelines for completion. It also includes managing the implementation of the project plan, along with operating regular 'controls' to ensure that there is accurate and objective information on 'performance' relative to the plan, and the mechanisms to implement recovery actions where necessary.

For Projects Management we usually follow major phases or stages, including SURVEYING and PLANNING, SITE MOBILIZATION, SITE ADMINISTRATION, SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT, PROJECT ECECUTION, COMMISSIONING and HANDOVER AND HR MANAGEMENT.

Surveying & Planning:

  • After the allotment of work, the company representative survey the site, checks feasibility of work, visualizes the initial difficulties and inform the site in-charge about any requirement of amendment in PO, change in scope of work, difficulties of installation works, etc.

  • After site survey, a comprehensive schedule of activities is planned depending upon the site clearances given by the client. A list of tentative resources required for the phase wise completion of the job is forwarded to the administration team at head office.

Site Mobilization:

Once the project team is mobilized on the site following activities are performed before starting the execution of project.

  • Saftey traning arrangement for workers.

  • Completion of HR formalities including issue of work permit (gate pass).

  • Arrangement of power points for connection of electrical tools.
  • Arrangement for worker hutment, site office and store area.

  • Collection of drawings from clients and its study.

  • Issue of materials from client's store.

  • Checking of materials as per client specification.

Site Administration:

  • For proper management and ensuring timely completion, a project team consisting of site accountant, site engineer, supervisors, saftey officer and store in-charge headed by the project manager is mobilized for the site.

  • A team skilled and semi-skilled technicians (electricians, welder, fitter, etc.) and unskilled worker are mobilized under every supervisor for phase wise completion of job.

  • Man power may increase or decrease depending upon the site clearances.

  • Project Manager co-ordinates with the project co-ordinators at respective departments of head office.

Supply Chain Management

  • Store In-charge raises the indent for materials and tools required for execution of the project.

  • Purchase department and stores department at head office ensures timely and faster delivery of the indented material at site.

Material Management:

  • Materials issued from client's store.

  • Checking the quality of materials by quality officer.

  • Storing the material through proper tagging at the company's site store.

  • Submit the monthly Materials Reconciliation to the client store.

Hand-Over Formalities

  • After completion of project all issued gate pass are returned to the client.

  • PF returns filed for all workers.

  • Submission of Final Material Reconciliation.

  • Submiting as built drawing to the client.

HR Management

  • Human Resource department at head office ensures timely completion of all statutory compliances as per Labour Law and Workman Compensation Act.

  • Its also recruits new technical members if required for a site and looks after general well being of all the employees at the site.
